AMR publishes novel, insightful and carefully crafted conceptual articles that challenge conventional wisdom concerning all aspects of organizations and their role in society.
Academy of Management Review(以下AMR）は、斬新かつ洞察にあふれ、注意深く練り上げられた、組織および組織が社会に果たす役割についての伝統的・通説的な知に果敢に挑むような概念的論文を掲載する。
Each manuscript published in AMR must advance theory or the theory development process in the area of management and organizations. Authors can achieve this objective by developing new management and organization theory, significantly challenging or clarifying current theory, synthesizing recent advances and ideas into fresh (if not entirely new) theory, initiating a search for new theory by pointing out and carefully delineating a novel type of problem or crafting ways to improve the process of theory development.
AMRに掲載される論文は、マネジメント（経営）や組織の分野における理論や理論構築プロセスを発展させなければならない。著者は以下のような方法でその目的を果たすことができる。新しい経営や組織の理論を構築すること。既存の理論に対して、意義のあるかたちで挑戦したり明確化したりすること。最近の発展やアイデアを統合して、全く斬新とまでは行かなくても、新しい理論に仕立て上げること。新たな問題を注意深く輪郭を描きながら提議したり、理論構築プロセスを改善する方法を練り上げることによって、新たな理論への道筋を示すこと。
The typical AMR article is comprehensive and original in analysis, accurately grounded in extant theory and literature, innovative in propositions and structure, and timely in terms of cutting-edge ideas. The journal seeks discussions that take a provocative or controversial position and/or that are distinct in terms of style of exhibition over guarded positions or generic presentations. Regardless of position or style, authors should argue research implications and, if appropriate, ramifications for management practice or public policy explicitly and persuasively.
典型的なAMRの論文は、包括的かつ新規な分析を行ない、既存の理論や文献を元とし、命題や論理構造にかんして革新的で、最先端のアイデアをタイムリーに提供する。AMRは、防御的立場や一般的な表現よりも、挑発的で議論を呼ぶような立場や際立った表現を求めている。立場や形式に関わらず、著者は研究上の含意や、もし適切ならば、マネジメントや公共政策の実践に、明確かつ説得力のある形で問題提議をするべきである。
Contributors will find AMR open to many different formats, including theoretical syntheses, new and exploratory conceptual models, point-counterpoint debates with a clear theoretical message, theoretically grounded discussions of methodology, historical essays with clear implications for current and future theory, theoretically relevant discussion of timely and important social issues, and comprehensive literature reviews with strong theoretical implications.
AMRは様々な形式を受け入れる。例えば、理論的な統合、斬新で説明的な概念モデル、明確な理論的メッセージを含む賛否両方の議論、理論的な観点を基礎とした方法論の議論、既存もしくは将来の理論への明確な含意を含んだ歴史的エッセイ、タイムリーかつ重要な社会的事項に関する理論に関連した議論、強い理論的含意を含む文献展望などである。
When the purpose is to develop new theory, research propositions may be desirable. Alternatively, when the purpose of an article is to shift the way scholars view the world or the scientific enterprise, specific propositions may not be appropriate. Authors of such articles might propose new taxonomies, trace broad developments within or across fields, espouse new philosophical or analytical perspectives, or discuss the theory development process itself.
論文の目的が新たな理論の構築であれば、研究上の命題を提供するのが望ましい。あるいは、論文の目的が研究者の世界や科学の見方をシフトさせることであったりする場合、特定的な命題は適切ではないだろう。その場合は、新たな分類方法を示したり、分野内あるいは分野をまたがる広範な発展を描いたり、新たな哲学的、分析的な視角を提唱したり、理論構築そのものを議論したりする方法がある。
