- Each researcher analyzes and sorts each of item from the list into thematic clusters using a Q-sort methodology. Boyatzis (1998) argues for the use of conceptual clustering rather than computer or statistical methods such as factor and cluster analysis because conceptual clustering allows researchers to recognize anomaries in the data and to play an active role in the clustering.
