THine Electrics (TSE: 6769), a fables semiconductor company, will enter the automotive market with its LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) interfaces.

The company will begin volume production in the first quarter of 2005. THine will supply two LVDS chip sets, THC63LVDM83C-MF and THC63LVDF84B-MF, that have high performance and have been proved and widely used in flat televisions and other digital consumer electronics, for car information systems to facilitate digital data transmission.

The chip sets use fewer cables and components and decrease system costs than conventional devices, contributing to bringing value-added digital data transmission to such systems.

Texas Instruments and Japan's Thine Electronics (JP: 6769) announced April 22 that they have agreed to cosupply LCD timing controllers that incorporate a mini-LVDS (low voltage differential signaling) system, TI's data transmission technology.

Under the agreement terms, Thine will supply LCD panel equipment makers with mini-LVDS-embedded timing controllers, and will also develop timing controllers that will comply with TI's roadmap for mini-LVDS LCD source drivers that TI will develop.

The partnership with TI will allow Thine to expand its TFT LCD timing controller lineup to cover a wide range of applications from notebook PCs to digital appliances.

The partnership will also enable TI to secure a stable supply base for its users. The partners will cultivate demand for mini-LVDS-embedded timing controllers, and aim to make the mini-LVDS technology a de-facto intra-panel serial interface standard.
