English for Business Law
Syllabus
Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to let the law school students become familiar with English in the business situation with the emphasis of the legal environment.
Course Contents
This course covers wide range of topics including business English conversations, methods of learning English, business law vocabularies, preparation for study abroad, etc. All of the topics covers in this course would be helpful if you plan to work in the international or global environment in the future.
Class Format
The class format will vary depending on the number of students who take this course, the level of the students’ current English skills, and the students’ needs and requests.
I would like to run this course in a casual, not a formal, manner so that I can be flexible enough to arrange course materials and modify the way of instruction based on the students’ abilities and needs.
There are old sayings such as “Practice makes perfect”, “Custom makes all things easy” and “Experience is the best teacher.” These proverbs indicate that traditional lectures as a method of instruction are far less effective for learning English. Thus, I will expect all of the students to actively use (listen, read, speak, and write) English at least during the class time. As always said, do not be afraid to make mistakes. Remember that failure (mistake) is the mother of success.
The actual methods of instruction may include listening and writing exercises, class discussions, student presentations, etc.

Evaluation
Evaluation (grading) is based on the class participation and the final report (or final written exam).
