Part 1: Application of OB in your country’s management practice
Choose one or more chapters of the textbook that attracted your interest most. Then write about how the concepts and theories learned in these chapters can be applied to the management practice in your country. Use some concrete cases (e.g., real companies, your work experience, your country’s unique practices), theoretically analyze the cases, and propose ways to improve the situations or solve some problems, if any.

Part 2: Application of OB for your future career
The field of OB is about managing people in organizations. For your future career, how would you apply what you learned in this course? Assess your strengths and weakness in terms of managerial skills, and describe what kind of knowledge or skills you want to obtain or brush up in the future to attain your career goals.

Format of the paper
Use single-spacing and 12 point font. There should be no more than 5 pages of text.

Course outline

The primary objective of this course is to introduce you to the basic framework for managing people in organizations. In order to effectively manage people in organizations, you should understand the principles of individual behaviors, group dynamics, and organizational characteristics as a whole. Therefore, this course covers broad topics on the human side of organizations such as individual dispositions, motivation, decision making, groups, leadership, organizational structure, and human resource practices. Upon the successful completion of this course, you will be able to analyze people problems in organizations appropriately and demonstrate your managerial skills behaviorally.

Because this course is a part of the international student exchange program, I will give you many examples using Japanese cases to foster your understanding of Japanese culture, management practices, and so on. We will also discuss how the main contents of this subject can be applied to the real management practices in the global context including your countries. You are expected to be actively involved in class discussions and exchanging ideas with other classmates about your country and your observation of Japanese culture and practices.
